This is the first part our our series called “One Month To Live”. In this discussion we talked about determining what matters most. Answer this questions:
“What if you knew you only had one month to live?”
James 4:4 talks about how short our life is in the grand scheme of things. With that in mind, we mentioned 3 things.
- Determine to live with passion. Are you currently living with passion? Do you know what passion is? The dictionary describes it like this: a strong and barely controllable emotion, a state or outburst of such emotion; an intense desire or enthusiasm for something. Passion is the result of you pursuing what matters most.
- Define your one month values. Most of what we value now (money, toys, popularity, sex, drugs, alcohol, etc.) just cause more stress and/or pain. What I would like to see you do is make a list of all the things you value in life. All the things are important and seem like ‘non-negotiable’s’. Next narrow that list down to only the important ones if you had one month to live. Check out Psalm 90:12. Answer – What values would become important if you have one month to live? How can you specifically pursue those values? What would change in your life to achieve those values?
- Depend on God’s power to live out those values. Check out Ephesians 1:19-20. We have access to the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. If God can raise Jesus from the dead, I think he can handle our issues. He has the power to help us live out what is most important. The only condition to receiving that power is to believe in Jesus Christ.
