Have you ever read the book of John? I was reading it today and caught something I never have before. In John 1:29 we read this,
“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”
I’m not sure John really knew who/what Jesus was. I get that clue from later in that passage. The thing that’s interesting here is that John knows who Jesus is…I mean exactly that Jesus is the Lamb of God. He knew that by just looking at him. Jesus didn’t have to explain it to him.
If you look in Luke and read the beginning of the birth of Jesus story, we read about a pregnant Elizabeth (John’s mom) talking to a pregnant Mary (Jesus’ mom) and John JUMPING in the womb. Can you believe that John would have known he was in the presence of God? John just seems to know these things…when he’s in presence of Holiness.
Often times, I hear people ask, “How do I know the voice of God?” or “How do I know and experience the presence of God?” Well, here’s that answer…at least the best that I can explain it. Maybe if we intentionally spend time HIM, we would know when He is near and speaking to us. I think that’s how John knew he was in the presence of Holiness…because he was so close to God that he just knew.
Maybe if we knew we were in the presence of God we would JUMP. When was the last time you JUMPED?
