This is the first part of our series called, “The Force”. The idea behind these messages is what is and what can life be like if we let the Holy Spirit take control of our life.

• The average goal for a jr. high student is to fit in.
• God’s goal for the jr. high student is to stand out!

How do we stand out? How do we not be normal. After all, normal is boring!

1. Understand that this planet in not our home.
   When I was younger, my parents moved and it rocked my world. I had a hard time adjusting. It took me about 4 years to start making friends.
   Hebrews 13:14
2. Understand that I’m not supposed to fit in.
   I, personally, never fit is as a jr. higher. I was a geek. About as geeky as they come. I had big brown glasses, super skinny, and grossly white. Picture the biggest geek you’ve seen and you’ve seen me as a jr. higher. But the truth is, as a Christian, when we let the Holy Spirit take control, we will not fit in!
   John 15:19
3. Understand that my life has a purpose.
   God created you for a reason, with a specific plan in mind. You don’t want to miss out on that.
   Jeremiah 29:11

Below are the question that were discussed in small groups.

• How do you try and fit in?
• Whose approval are you looking for?
• Over the next several weeks, we are going to be talking about standing out for God. What are some ways you can stand out for Him?
• Talk about your relationship with God…whether you have a relationship with Him or not. Who is He to you?
