Every time I read God’s word, I find something new. This morning I was reading in Acts 2 about the apostles breaking out of jail. Read this story here. While in jail, for preaching the name of Jesus, an angel appears to them and opens all the gates so they can get out and continue telling people about Jesus…I think that shows just how important telling people about Him really is. In the morning they here them back at the Temple continuing to preach. They go the apostles and ask them, “Didn’t we tell you to never preach the name of Jesus?” the apostles respond with this…”We must obey God rather then any human authority.”
I truly think we should respond the same way. Sure there are places we are told not to speak the name of Jesus, but we need to! This idea reminds me of how our government is forcing hospitals to give women abortions when they ask for them. There are many doctors who don’t like this, but because of the law they will have to. But will they? If they are a follower of Jesus they don’t have to answer the worldly law. I think that’s why many christian hospitals are thinking of closing if everything with this law passes. But, this passage shows that if we stand firm in God’s law, great things will happen. Here, in this passage and the same would apply to our lives, that if we follow God’s law rather than the law of this world…when we are ‘forced’ to…God’s law trumps! This is and will be hard to do, but you never know what might happen. You may be assisted by a heavenly being.
