John 3:30, “He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.”
Let’s get some context here. John’s disciples are questioning the fact that more and more people are going to Jesus to be baptized and less and less are going to John. John, in his wisdom, knew his purpose, knew who he was and gave glory to Jesus. John knew that in order for God to be glorified, he had to become less and less and let Jesus be greater and greater.
Personally, when I’ve experienced joy, true joy, it’s been because I have allowed Jesus to become greater and greater in my life. In order for Him to become great, I have to become less. How does this happen? Well, after much thought, I think there is only one way and it’s this…wake up every morning and pray this, “Today, Lord, I give myself to you so you can become greater and greater in my life. Make me less and less so people can see you in my life and believe.”
Will you join me in this challenge? Hopefully, in a month or so, we will revisit this idea and see what has happened in the lives of the people who have taken this challenge on.
